Time and time again we all have heard Dark Chocolate is healthier than Milk Chocolate, but do you know why? Although Milk Chocolate may taste great and is the number one choice of chocolate from our experience you might want to consider Dark Chocolate for your next event. Remember not all chocolate are created equal.
Milk Chocolate contains less of the original cocoa bean than Dark Chocolate. Milk Chocolate is often modified with the incorporation of other ingredients such as milk solids, sugar and cream. Since Dark Chocolate tends to have more cocoa present and Milk Chocolate nutritional quality is small compared with the Dark. The higher the cocoa the more of nutrition quality and healthy it is for you. Flavonoids are a source of cocoa. Flavonoids are a type of antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from damage caused by harmful molecules also known as free radicals. Antioxidants are of nutrition value and this is why Dark Chocolate is considered to be a better choice than Milk Chocolate. My name is Gloria Brewer; my one year anniversary of being a North County homeowner is merely weeks away, on the 27th of December. Like many residents in the last week, I faced the difficult task of narrowing down my belongings in an unexpected mandatory evacuation due to the Lilac Fire. Fortunately for my little family, we had a safe place to go and an intact home to return to. I cannot imagine there is ever a good time to have your world turned upside down, but my heart goes out to those in our community facing such turmoil during the holidays. I have teamed up with my soon-to-be wedding venue, Oceanside Factory of Dreams Hall, to host an event to give back to those who have lost everything, including their sense of normalcy. They have generously offered their event space to those needing their community now more than ever. Thursday, January 18, 2018

While technical ability is certainly essential for landing a skilled job, the skills employers really want aren’t ones that are readily taught.
Employers across the country are lamenting what’s come to be known as the “soft skills gap.” Hiring managers find that workers who are qualified on paper don’t pan out due to shortcomings in communication skills, self-discipline, and other traits that make a person a dependable employee. But while these soft skills aren’t always taught in a classroom, they are abilities that job seekers can improve with effort and dedication.
A special thanks to all of our Oceanside Chamber Members and those who support the mission of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. We are grateful for your past support and look forward to an amazing 2018. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

That changed when I recently watched a One More Customer interview between former football Hall-of-Famer Fran Tarkenton and Ted Jenkins, co-CEO and Founder of oXYGen Financial, Inc. Jenkins was there to talk about Digital Hacks to Drive Top Line Revenue. Wait, what??? As I listened, it came to me that these “digital hacks” had nothing to do with the hacks that I was familiar with, but rather with enhancing your marketing strategies, so I got out my pen and started taking notes. I guess there are lots of digital hacks and everyone has their own list, but I found Jenkins’ list helpful and wanted to pass on a few of his suggestions.
The majority can agree -- whether it is store bought, home cooking, or dining out -- the Thanksgiving feast many share each year is one of the best meals to indulge upon. This holiday brings both family and friends together to join around the table and reminds us what we are thankful for. So if you are in Oceanside for the holiday and want to break away from the traditional meal or simply want to keep the mess out of your kitchen; these restaurants are opening their doors to you!
With the rise of technology and and easier access for any business owner or entrepreneur to create their own logo, everyone has the ability to create marketing materials, a website or even their own apparel at the push of a button. While technology can be a huge resource for business owners, it can be quite daunting. Many sites now offer semi-custom or stock logo designs at the push of a finger. While this is great for someone needing a simple logo quickly, I always encourage businesses to really assess how they view their business or brand.
Do you really want the first thing people see is a stock logo or clip art that doesn’t reflect who you are as a brand? Of even worse do you want to use a logo that others may be using at the same time? It can be embarrassing to see that happen to businesses. This blog post is directed more towards businesses who may want to create the logo themselves without the help of graphic designer or branding expert. Good help is hard to find, especially in the construction industry where long hours can equal
short tempers. But, there are things you can do to find and keep capable and committed employees. The turnover ratio in the construction industry exceeds 20%. This despite relatively high salaries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the lowest paid construction laborers earn respectable $16.26 per hour with construction managers topping out at nearly $100,000 per year. As an industry that is expected to grow substantially over the next decade, there is plenty of opportunity for growth but you have to be creative in your hiring practices in order to attract top talent. by Marcy Browe
One of the first questions I hear from families in preparation for their photoshoot is “what do we wear in our photos?” I love this part of the process!! Here’s what I share with the families who have booked me for their photos, hope this helps you too! Make sure you look like a cohesive group. I never recommend that everyone wears all the same thing (white tops with khaki pants all around, eh hem, no thank you!) But you do want to look like you’re coordinated.
