The Library will be offering a Citizenship Class for those eligible to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Naturalization Test. Classes will be held online on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., beginning September 29. In this class, students will learn about U.S. history and government, and prepare for the citizenship interview. Classes will be taught by a volunteer teacher who has classroom experience and training specific to the topic. Materials will be provided by the Library.

Grading and other early-phase construction activities are underway for the future new Student Services Building at MiraCosta College. Founders First CDC is a not-for-profit small business growth accelerator program spearheaded by a team of serial entrepreneurs and impact-focused investors. Through four (4) strategy-focused workshops and meaningful mentorships, the program educates small businesses on how to scale their business, improve their business financial health, and become job creators. The program culminates with a pitch & graduation day where cash & service prizes are awarded to the top growth plan presentations, along with the opportunity to network with potential investors and partners. Post-program support is included for all graduates.
Oceanside, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) introduced the Studying Outcomes and Benchmarks for Effective Recovery (SOBER) Homes Act. The bill requires a federal study on the quality and effectiveness of recovery housing, including the availability of high-quality recovery housing, and state, tribal, and local regulation and oversight of recovery housing. The bill directs the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to enter an arrangement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to conduct the study.

Advanced Metering and Distribution System Leak Detection The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation awarded the City of Oceanside $2 million for the City’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project and improvements to the distribution system leak detection program. The City received the award after applying for the WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grant.
